Mental Health PB&J

Calling all carb-loving, PB & J craving humans!

This is what I’m calling my MHPBJ (mental health peanut butter and jelly that is).

While our diet culture is filled with carb shaming, I’m here to share that carbs (among their many other magnificent benefits) allow an amino acid called tryptophan greater access to the brain in turn reducing symptoms of depression, anger, confusion, and can improve overall mood.

Not only that, but, when carbs are paired with protein such as peanut butter or any other nut or seeds, they have an even stronger anxiety reducing effect!

My MHPBJ consists of:

- Quinoa power grains GF bread from Simple Kneads

- raw peanut butter from Sprouts

- fresh organic strawberries

- sprinkle of cinnamon

- glass of plain, unsweetened Kefir from Lifeway Kefir
